It’s been full time for both of us since 2005 when she left a 10-year career as a teacher and we formed nonfiction media and NonFiction Weddings.

Every day we are grateful for the chance to work together, doing something we love so much. But it’s definitely an ongoing process, our figuring out what our jobs are and how to do them together and separately.

This blog is about our process, as we learn to use our tools better to tell stories better.

It’s a lot of work, just managing the tools of multimedia journalism. If we don’t get our chops with the gear here, now, before we get in the field, we won’t have any brainpower left over to actually find the story and do it justice when we get to Nepal.

We’re committing to use our tools–the audio recorder, video camera, the microphones, wireless set, the wind protection devices, the digicam–all that stuff, as we move through our daily lives.

Using these tools as a notebook: voice recorder rolling as we take a long training walk and work out some of our thoughts about the project–then we edit, transcribe, and upload the stuff here.

Stuff like that. We have great tools. The goal is to figure out how to use them as part of our nature.
