The government of Nepal has declared at least a three day ‘holiday’, during which basically nothing will take place. Unless, of course, you count the transition of the government from a 239 year old monarchy to a nominally democratic republic.

First impressions of Kathmandu=less surprised, more delighted. So chill. Yes, it’s kind of got that riotous ‘civilized chaos’ thing going, but it’s so friendlylike and folks are really nice. Not that we’d been given reason to expect otherwise, of course.

After the longest plane ride of our lives, 17 1/2 hours, we’re in Bangkok, awaiting our plane to Kathmandu. There’s internet here, and showers. Nice place. I mean, like wow, nice place. Thai Airways? Mmm, I could get used to that too.
