Liv shows off the star of her show, the Pear Ginger Cheesecake. It was uproariously good (We know where you can get one, and help Girlworld while you’re at it, hint, hint!).

Liv baked a ton of delicious desserts. We put together some party favors (mainly gift cards, so you can gift people a donation to Girlworld if you like. If you’d like some, just holler, perhaps there are some gift-giving occasions coming up on your calendar? All tax deductible of course!)

Amy and I got kind of dolled up, and talked a bit to the assembled hordes, then we screened our 20 minute cut.

It was a really buoying event for us. Total proceeds from this event as of now are just under $1000! We are thrilled and grateful!

We’ve been planning to return to Nepal for a second round of filming in early 2011, and that money (and maybe even more importantly the support) is going to make a huge difference in our ability to do our jobs well during that trip.

We’re still not packed all the way. Leave tomorrow for the airport at 6:40ish. Probably a long night ahead. We are so eager to begin letting Nepal seep into our psyches–up till now, it’s been all about the idea of Nepal. The trip. The logistics. 

Pretty soon, if we’re lucky, it will begin to be about the country, the girls, the story. I think we’re both ready for that.

Time to breathe a little.

I mean, holy cow, it’s been bubbling to the top of the news an awful lot lately, huh? There’s some great pictures coming out of there (I hope we’ll get a chance to meet this photographer).

There is so, so much to learn about the place, the people, the economic and social situation. We’ve been around a bit, but this will be our first trip to Asia–unless you count the east bank of the Bosphorus in Turkey, which technically is Asia, but you know…

There are a lot of resources, and we’re trying to squeeze in as much research as we can. We hope this blog will help us to get and keep a little bit of research under our belts.

We hope folks will respond, too, with book/article recommendations, referrals and contacts and questions–it’s all going to help us do our job better!

It’s been full time for both of us since 2005 when she left a 10-year career as a teacher and we formed nonfiction media and NonFiction Weddings.

Every day we are grateful for the chance to work together, doing something we love so much. But it’s definitely an ongoing process, our figuring out what our jobs are and how to do them together and separately.
