Ebay as a funding source? Well, kind of.

Around a year ago I completed a pretty in-depth survey for Microsoft, and they gave me a choice of a bunch of software to choose as a thank you gift.

I chose one I could sell for a few bucks. Now that I’m getting around to selling it, I figured I would see if adding a bit of Girlworld luv to the listing wouldn’t help. What the heck, right?

Ebay’s listing options enable me to send 100% of the sale price to Shunpike, Girlworld’s fiscal sponsor. Is this silly? I don’t know. Maybe someone will find it interesting and will pass it on? Maybe a few more people will look at the GW website? Who knows.

If you have some stuff to sell you weren’t doing anything with anyway, I know a guy who’s about to list a bunch of stuff on ebay, with Girlworld standing to benefit.

Nothing ventured…

  • Good idea, but you should include the charity angle in description of the item–so it’s in that big, bold header. And can you also include more detail about the FILM. More importantly, have you thought about approaching manufacturers of educational products (I guess Windows would count) to ask them to sponsor your film? One way to do it would be to ask them to donate software etc. and then let you auction it off…so it can–perhaps–earn more than the sticker price. It would be like E-Bay in reverse…but would the purchase count as tax-deductable. Lots of things to consider here, but make sure you leverage the “good cause” angle to the fullest and offer donors a spot in the final credits….
