How Very Refreshing
Week ago, driving down the road, I saw a truck with beverages inside. I said to Amy, “Hmm. Looks like Pepsi Cola changed their logo.”
Now, I’m not one of those design people that eat sleep and breathe logos. But I notice.
I like the old (i.e., most recent previous) Pepsi logo, insofar as this kind of thing is important to me.
Simple. Clean. Iconic. There’s a big neon one in Seattle I have long dug.
“What’s the new logo look like?” Amy says.
“Now it kind of looks like that Obama circle thing.”
“Hmm.” She says. Today Amy says, “Hey, come look at this…”, calling me around to her computer, the YouTube below cued up.
“Hmm indeed,” says I.
Coincidence?
Looking at the video above, I’m already kind of annoyed about this kind of presentation. It’s kind of been done, right? But that doesn’t stop me being curious. Will it actually DO anything? Will people submit? Will people view the movies?
Given that a major motivator behind this would seem to be to get lots of faces looking at screens with Pepsi’s smart, Obamarific new logo, I wonder how closely the content will be monitored.

Hello.
If my blog, Logo Design Love, gives the impression I get bent out of shape, it’s unintensional. I love effective design, don’t get me wrong, but I also like to think I have a more rounded view of the world.
Thanks all the same for mentioning me / my blog.
All the best.

Mr. Airey wrote the above in response to an earlier edit of this post, in which I said “I’m not one of those design people who tweak on logos and get all bent out of shape when something changes” (or words to that effect), and linked to his site.
Well, that was just silly. His site,
http://www.logodesignlove.com/
is just not like that. Fact is, I tried to find some pissy design tweak anti-bad-logo blogs and had a tough time coming up with anything credible.
So I changed how I phrased that bit. Thanks Mr. LogoDesignLove, for keeping me in line.

…And furthermore I owe Mr. Airey thanks, on account of it was his blog from which I lifted a couple pieces of the logo art in question. What a hack I must be.

That’s kind of you to follow-up, squire, and you’re very welcome for my comment.
Have a great weekend.
